The Minnesota Vikings are not taking any chances with prized wide receiver Adam Thielen, who was ruled out of the remainder of the Week 7 matchup with the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old Thielen has 391 receiving yards on the season and is a main offensive threat for quarterback Kirk Cousins and the the Vikings, but Minnesota has a quick turnaround, opening Week 8 this Thursday at home against the Washington Redskins. Fearing an opportunity to further injure Thielen in Sunday's Lions contest, the wideout will sit the rest of today's game out.

Minnesota is clinging to a single-touchdown lead over their NFC North division foe Lions. While the Redskins have proved to be a pushover team during the 2019 season—their record stands at 1-5, only winning against the lowly Miami Dolphins—the Vikings figure they don't want to chance it regarding Thielen's health. Already heading into Sunday's matchup with Detroit, the 6-foot-2 receiver was questionable while dealing with his hamstring injury. It was further aggravated on Sunday after being cleared to play.

Thielen's single reception against the Lions today yielded an impeccable 25-yard touchdown reception.

Thielen and wideout Stefon Diggs make up the Vikings' dynamic pass-catching duo, along with tight end Kyle Rudolph. Previously, there were rumblings of Vikings players upset with Cousins' performance. However, that has since been assuaged by the uptick in Cousins' play, including two straight wins over NFC East teams.
