Ahead of his Tom Brady's first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, author Jeff Benedict has written a book titled “The Dynasty,” highlighting the success of the New England Patriots over the years. Within the book, Benedict reveals some of the horrific details of Brady's thumb injury in 2018.

Back in 2018, the Patriots were preparing to face the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Championship Game. Tom Brady was dealing with a thumb injury that forced him to receive stitches on his thumb.

However, Tom Brady wasn't fond of how the sutures on his thumb felt when they made contact with the football. Therefore, he asked the doctor handling his injury, Dr. Matthew Liebman, to trim the sutures on his thumb.

At first, Liebman was skeptical about granting Brady's request to trim the stitches on his thumb. But Tom Brady remained persistent and Liebman gave in, helping the legendary quarterback with his injury. After getting the sutures reduced to how he wanted them, Brady thanked Liebman and walked out of the training room.

Of course, for those that don't know, Brady would go on to defeat the Jaguars by the score of 24-20. The Jaguars held a 20-10 lead in the third quarter, only for Tom Brady to have one of his vintage comebacks. Brady would conclude the game with 290 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his touchdowns were thrown to Danny Amendola and came in the fourth quarter.
