The New England Patriots and Denver Broncos will play each other in Week 5, but the game has been moved to Monday Night Football due to positive COVID-19 tests in New England.

The Patriots are coming off a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, while the Broncos defeated the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football to capture their first win of the season.

New England is 2-2 on the young season and Denver is 1-3.

The Patriots will be favored to defeat the Broncos at home despite the lack of fans being allowed at Gillette Stadium. With that being said, ClutchPoints has made four bold predictions for the game.

1. Cam Newton will play and dominate

Cam Newton didn't play against the Chiefs after contracting COVID-19. The Patriots severely missed the former MVP, as both Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham were awful against the Chiefs.

Newton is reportedly asymptomatic and should be able to return to action on Monday if he tests negative before Monday's game. For what it's worth, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio fully expects Newton to play.

ā€œYeah, I mean we’ve beenĀ under that assumptionĀ the whole time that he would be playing,ā€ Fangio said, via Mike Klis of KUSA. ā€œAnd then adjust if he’s not. Just like Kansas City did last week with the late positive test in the week. Just like Pittsburgh had to do against us when Drew [Lock] got hurt in the second series of our game. . . . Yeah, we’re anticipating Newton playing but we’ll be ready if he’s not the quarterback.ā€

The Patriots did not have any players test positive for COVID-19 on Friday, meaning they could be back in their building on Saturday to prepare for the Broncos game.

Newton has thrown for 714 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He already has four rushing touchdowns as well for the Patriots.

Without Von Miller, the Broncos defense isn't elite anymore. They are giving up 20.5 points per game on the season and can't seem to stop the passing or running game.

Look for Newton to get back to his old ways against Denver and throw and run for a few touchdowns in his return to the lineup.

2. Julian Edelman will bounce back after his dropped pass in Week 4

Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu picked off Stidham in Week 4 after Julian Edelman dropped an easy pass that he usually makes in his sleep. Mathieu then took the ball to the house for the pick-six, pretty much icing the game for the Chiefs.

Edelman is one of the fiercest competitors in the NFL. He's extremely hard on himself and basically expects perfection every week.

Since his mistake in Week 4 was very costly, Patriots fans shouldn't be surprised if Edelman goes off in Week 5 against the Broncos. The three-time champion is dealing with a minor knee injury, but the Patriots expect him to play versus Denver on Monday Night Football.

Edelman hasn't caught a touchdown pass yet this season. Look for that to change against the Broncos, as the 34-year-old will be motivated to redeem himself from Week 4 and prove to the naysayers that he's not washed up now that Tom Brady is gone.

3. Patriots defense will force at least three turnovers

Whether it's Drew Lock, Jeff Driskel or Brett Rypien, the Patriots are set up to feast against the Broncos.

Lock has only played in two games this season due to injury and he's being listed as questionable for the Patriots game. Driskel and Rypien have thrown for a combined six interceptions already on the season. Look for that number to rise in Week 5 against a hungry Patriots defense.

New England has four interceptions on the season and five fumble recoveries. They have always been one of the more aggressive defenses in the NFL and Bill Belichick certainly smells blood with Denver coming to town since the Broncos' quarterback play has been putrid.

History has shown us that when you give Belichick even one extra day to prepare for a quarterback, the Patriots usually take advantage of it and make life hell for the opposing QB.

So, no matter who is starting for the Broncos, look for the Patriots to have a field day in the turnover game.

4. Patriots will win in blowout fashion to get to 3-2

New England isn't going to lose this game, even if Newton isn't cleared to play. The Patriots have the better head coach, offense and defense, plus a motivated team that is looking to get back in the win column after losing to the Chiefs by 16 points.

The lack of fan noise will make it easier for the Broncos to potentially move the ball on offense against the Patriots. However, Belichick is going to have his team prepared on both sides of the ball to impose their will against Denver.

After all, history has shown that New England is a very difficult team to play coming off of a loss.
