Pictures like this one really do say a thousand words. Unfortunately for Bill Belichick, though, football fans across the globe already knew what depressingly dire straits the New England Patriots were in before his emoji-come-to-life facepalm went viral following an ugly loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

New England fell 10-6 to Indianapolis in Frankfurt, Germany, moving to 2-8 on the season. The loss marks the team's third straight and sixth in its last seven games. Still, the tenor of Sunday's defeat was especially dismal for the Patriots, Belichick's decision to bench a struggling Mac Jones for Bailey Zappe on a potential game-winning drive speaking to mounting team-wide dysfunction.
Needless to say, Zappe didn't exactly fare much better than Jones, essentially handing the Colts a victory on this brutal fake-spike interception on first down with just over 30 seconds remaining that resulted in Belichick's facepalm.

Fans both blamed Belichick and expressed sympathy for the legendary coach on Twitter, noting his job is in increasing jeopardy while also placing plenty of blame on Jones.

Jones went 15-of-20 for 170 yards, no touchdowns and one interception against Indianapolis while being sacked five times. Zappe was 3-of-7 for 25 yards and a pick in relief of New England's ever-embattled starting quarterback. Though the Patriots—on the back of a strong ground attack—easily out-gained the Colts with 340 total yards, those two interceptions proved the difference in an NFL Germany game that hardly lived up to last week's thriller between the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins.
New England has a much-needed bye next week before getting back in action against the New York Giants on November 26th.
