It has been nearly a month since the New England Patriots announced they were signing veteran quarterback Cam Newton, but he is only just getting to town.

Newton spent the majority of the last month working out in Los Angeles, but ESPN's Mike Reiss reported Newton came to Boston on Wednesday. He will report to Gillette Stadium on Monday:

In recent weeks, the Patriots' quarterbacks have been split on separate coasts — Cam Newton throwing in Los Angeles, and Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer leading their own throwing sessions in suburban Boston. Following Newton's arrival to town on Wednesday, they're now in the same spot, connections have been made, and they'll officially come together at Gillette Stadium on Monday.

Though it is expected Newton will be the starter, he will still have to win the job from both Hoyer and Stidham.

Hoyer has spent multiple stints with the Pats, and has a good understanding of Josh McDaniels' system. New England selected Stidham in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and it initially appeared to give the youngster the reins after Tom Brady departed in free agency.

In any case, the quarterback room will assemble on Monday in Foxborough.

Newton certainly provides the most intrigue. The 2015 MVP offers McDaniels the chance to implement some new schemes and run-pass option looks given his mobility and playmaking outside the pocket.

Of course, the question will remain: can Cam stay healthy?

Newton passed his team physical and is out to prove he is still a top quarterback in the NFL. Pats fans are hoping a healthy Cam will make for a smooth transition from the Brady era.
