The New England Patriots lost a lot of talent this offseason, including on their offensive line. Left tackle Trent Brown left in free agency for the Oakland Raiders, which was a big loss. It was the second straight season the defending Super Bowl champions lost their starting left tackle in free agency, after Nate Solder left for the Giants a year ago.

Isaiah Wynn is currently set to take over for Brown at left tackle, but that's a little bit risky. Many thought Wynn would be a guard in the pro game, because he isn't very tall, but the Patriots are apparently comfortable with him at tackle. Wynn was a first-round pick last year, but he missed his entire rookie season with a torn Achilles. As such, he's unproven, and it's impossible to predict what they'll get with him.

Accordingly, it makes sense that the Patriots continue to look for tackle help. In the third round of this past draft, they took Yodny Cajuste from West Virginia. They didn't stop there, though, as they also brought in former Broncos tackle Jared Veldheer for a visit, according to Field Yates of ESPN.com.

Veldheer has 113 NFL starts under his belt, and he's one of the more accomplished players left on the market. He's massive at 6-foot-8, and would provide some much-needed depth for the Patriots. He has experience at both left and right tackle, and he started 12 games for the Broncos last season.

He didn't play very well though, grading out as Pro Football Focus' 58th-best tackle. If the Patriots sign him, they likely won't be counting on him to start anytime soon.
