New England Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones will not be suspended for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen on Sunday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The hit will be reviewed for a possible fine, however.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of the Patriots' win over the Bills, when Allen was finishing up a seven-yard scramble and was in the process of being wrapped by safety Duron Harmon before Jones came over and landed a vicious hit on Allen.

Jones was penalized, but was not ejected, much to the chagrin of Buffalo.

Allen lay on the field in pain and had to be removed from the game and placed in concussion protocol. He had a miserable afternoon overall, completing just 13 of his 28 passes for 153 yards and three interceptions.

Meanwhile, Jones logged five tackles on the day.

Jones, who played his collegiate football at Auburn, went undrafted but eventually landed with New England in 2016. He played a very limited role during his rookie year, totaling six tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The following season, Jones' playing time increased and he ended up posting 36 tackles, a sack, an interception, a fumble recovery and eight passes defended.

He went on to show even more improvement last year, as he finished with 56 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three picks, a forced fumble and seven passes defended.

The Pats improved to 4-0 with the win and moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC East, dropping the Bills to 3-1 in the process.
