New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman's offseason is not off to a good start. While the Tennessee Titans were knocking the Baltimore Ravens out of the playoffs, Edelman was causing trouble in Beverly Hills.
According to TMZ Sports, Edelman was walking around Beverly Hills around 9 p.m. when he jumped on a car causing damage. Someone flagged down the cops, and Edelman was arrested. He was cited for vandalism and released back to his friends.
According to the police, Edelman was drinking, which can help explain why the situation might have happened. It's now up to the Los Angeles District Attorney to decide whether to file for more chargers or if this will be the end of the case.
This would have been an avoidable situation in a couple of ways. If Edelman wasn't drinking he probably wouldn't have decided he needed to jump up on the car.
If the Patriots would have beaten the Titans during the wild card round, it would have been the Patriots playing in Baltimore on Saturday night, and Edelman wouldn't have been anywhere close to California.
Hopefully, the rest of Edelman's offseason goes better than Saturday night or the Patriots could be in some trouble.
Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald has reported that Edelman is going to need to go through multiple surgeries to get ready for the 2020 season. He needs to go through a knee scope to get his knee cleaned up, and another surgery to repair a separated AC joint.
