Although the rest of the AFC East has taken massive strides in improving their rosters, the New England Patriots hope to remain competitive in the 2022 season. They'll need the best players possible to participate and many worried about what Isaiah Wynn was going to do in regards to his contract. However, his latest decision should have New England and Mac Jones beaming with joy.
According to USA Today, the starting left tackle is going to report to mandatory OTAs. It was originally feared he would hold out as he is in the middle of contract talks with the Patriots. Especially considering Wynn never arrived for any of the voluntary OTAs. However, New England can breathe a sigh of relief as their left tackle returns amid contract negotiations with the front office.
Article Continues BelowWe'll see how it all plays out. Although the Patriots picked up his fifth-year option, it's still up in the air whether or not Isaiah Wynn is the long-term answer at left tackle. He's been inconsistent so far in his career, but a strong showing in 2022 should make him a lock as the starter for years to come. New England will closely monitor Wynn throughout OTAs and the regular season, as his performance dictates his future with the organization.
Regardless, this is excellent news for Mac Jones. Wynn is the best option the team has at left tackle right now and Jones needs all of the protection he can get. The Patriots are an intriguing team this year, as New England could be a surprise contender if their young quarterback takes a leap in production. With that in mind, the franchise is likely very happy to have Wynn return for mandatory OTAs.
