Yet another scandal surrounding the New England Patriots came to light during the 2019 NFL season when a member of their staff was found recording a game between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. It appears the league still has yet to move on from the Patriots' violation of their rules.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, league spokesman Brian McCarthy says the NFL is still investigating the incident:

“The matter remains under review,” McCarthy told PFT via email on Tuesday.

A videographer from the team's production crew admitted to attending the December 8 matchup between the two AFC North rivals and recording the Bengals sidelines. Although they were set to play the Patriots the very next week, the NFL ultimately determined that there was no violation due to the lack of evidence of a connection to head coach Bill Belichick.

The league essentially pinpointed the situation to a mistake on the crew member's part. However, McCarthy's comments indicate that the NFL is still doing its due diligence on how it all came to fruition.

It is safe to say that the Patriots could face some severe punishment if they are found of any wrongdoing. Their track record has made them a repeat offender when it comes to these types of issues with the NFL.

Even if New England is found guilty, it remains to be seen when the league will be able to hand down their punishment since the 2020 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching.
