For a number of football fans, Mac Jones may be among the must-see young quarterbacks for the 2022 NFL season, what with how he led the New England Patriots to an unexpected playoff run last season and how his recent spring practice sessions have shown tantalizing deep throw potential.
Jones, in fact, might just be the most interesting sophomore quarterback to watch as the new season looms on the horizon and as the Patriots try to carry the weight of higher expectations:

NFL executives, however, may disagree. ESPN asked a handful of NFL executives, scouts, and coaches about which Year 2 quarterbacks are due to break out this year, and Jones is apparently not at the top of their list.
So, who's the sophomore quarterback expected to produce big time by the NFL execs this coming season?
None other than the kid under center for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence. Check it out:

The 2021 NFL Draft top pick may not have won Rookie of the Year (here's looking at you, Ja'Marr Chase), but many feel Year 1 for the Tennessee native should not even count. And now that the Urban Meyer tenure has ended in northeastern Florida, the prospects for Lawrence to showcase his true chops seem tasty.
That's not to say that Mac Jones won't have his fair share of the limelight. He should still be a major draw for the Patriots, but a big question mark is how he will do without offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who's now with the Las Vegas Raiders.
If Jones can make good on his deep throw potential, then he should have himself and big year and could bring the Patriots back to the playoffs, with the possibility of making a run.
