New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been even more dangerous outside of Gillette Stadium than inside it.

According to Pro Football Focus, the 41-year old Brady has played in 29 elite (a grade of 90 or higher) games in his career. Sixteen of those games have come on the road.

This season, PFF graded Brady as its fifth-best quarterback. Brady trailed the top-rated Drew Brees, as well as Patrick Mahomes, Andrew Luck, and Phillip Rivers.

Brady wasn’t his normal self this season, but his abnormal self is still the fifth-best quarterback in the NFL. His 1.86 big-time throw to turnover-worthy throw ratio ranked eighth among qualifiers, and his clean-pocket turnover-worthy throw percentage (1.81) was the seventh-lowest on the year.

For the season, Brady threw for 4,355 yards and 29 touchdowns. Twelve of those scores came on during road games.

Brady is taking steps to hopefully better even better in 2019. In April, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the Patriots quarterback may “bulk up” by the time New England’s three-day mandatory minicamp begins on June 4. NFL Media’s Mike Giardi confirmed that report Wednesday.

“He wants to get to 232, 233 pounds to start the season because he felt like he lost a little too much weight and strength as last year progressed,” Giardi said. “Brady — constantly tinkering with that workout — feels like he’s going to maintain that pliability, but he wants to start at a little bit of a higher point.”

Brady, who’s long-maintained the importance of pliability, is currently listed at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds.
