New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady went on his weekly interview on WEEI this Monday and spoke about his first Super Bowl week. This was 17 long years ago. There were no smartphones or Facebook. It's nearly a generational space of time.
Back then, Brady was invited to a party on a Friday night. He regretted going and found the whole experience to be exhausting and a waste of time. He was even asked about his infamous beer chugging days.
Brady, per a transcription via James Palmer of the NFL Network:

I was asked to do it and I thought, ‘this would be great!' and I did it. And I would never do anything like that at again… Yeah, there was still (beer chugging) those at that time. It was definitely that time. I wasn't doing it on that Friday night, but I was definitely out at, I don't know, 9;30-10 o'clock at night. Which you know, this Friday night I will probably be asleep by 8:30.”
Brady and the Patriots are focused on their Sunday night matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. The 41-year-old quarterback is heading into his ninth Super Bowl appearance. He is currently 5-3 and plans on bringing yet another championship back home to Foxboro.
The Super Bowl will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.
During the 2018 campaign for the Patriots, Brady threw for 4,355 yards with 29 touchdowns and only 11 interceptions. He led the team to a 11-5 record, topping the AFC East Division. They've barreled through the playoffs with ease.
