It has been a tough 2018 campaign for New England Patriots Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski having to work through injuries over the last few weeks that caused him to miss three out of the last four games.

What has also been equally frustrating for him has been his lack of production in the red zone as he hasn't scored a touchdown since the season opener against the Houston Texans. Gronkowski snapped that streak on Sunday against the New York Jets as he voiced after the game his relief to get back on track in the regard, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.

“It felt good,” Gronkowski said in his postgame media session. “I’ve just been putting the work in the last couple of weeks, whatever it was, to get back and now I just feel like I can keep on improving week in, week out now and do what I have to do to help the team. It felt good to be back out there and it was a good win overall.”

Gronkowski had an effective performance with three receptions for 56 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Jets. He had shown that he still has plenty of athleticism on his 34-yard touchdown reception as he made the catch over the defender at the goal line to tumble in for just his second score of the season.

This is an encouraging sign as the Patriots are hoping that this could be the start of him playing a big role in the offense in the final stretch of games in the regular season and into the playoffs. If healthy, he has proven to be a huge asset in the passing game behind his playmaking ability along with being a major threat in the red zone.

With Gronkowski back into the fold, it adds another element to the mix that could push the Patriots back on track to contend for the Super Bowl once again.
