Skip Bayless is known for making controversial statements that almost no one agrees with, but this time, he made a point that was actually pretty legitimate.

Bayless took to Twitter on Thursday night to make the point that if Tom Brady can lead the New England Patriots to a Super Bowl title this year, it would be his greatest achievement as an NFL quarterback.

Again, this isn't an out-there statement.

After all, this is probably the weakest Patriots team in quite some time, as Brady is now 41 years old, tight end Rob Gronkowski is barely a shell of himself, Josh Gordon is now gone, the receiving corps are thin overall and the defense is not very good.

The proof is in the pudding, as New England lost its fifth game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers this past Sunday, marking the first time since 2009 that the Patriots lost more than four games in one year.

In spite of all of that, Brady made his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl this season courtesy of 3,979 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Brady has also completed 65.9 percent of his passes while registering a passer rating of 97.6.

Still, we have heard incessant talk about Brady's decline over the last couple of weeks, as the Pats have dropped back-to-back games and Brady hasn't really looked like the Brady we have all come to know all season long.

Should Brady lead these Patriots to another Super Bowl, it probably would be his crowning achievement.

New England will play host to the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
