The New England Patriots have battled through injuries over the last few weeks that has seen them be without some key pieces to the puzzle in the process.
However, New England is in their Week 11 bye that will provide the team more recovery time that may see them return with a few of these key factors in the mix. We’ve been at it for 14 weeks including the preseason. At this point, your body becomes — in my belief — pretty calloused to the football season. You’re used to the hits. Your body and your brain knows what it’s about to do every weekend.
“You have some guys who are dealing with some bumps and bruises, but hopefully, we can move into this stretch healthy. I know guys are feeling better and working hard.”
The Patriots have dealt with nagging injuries to several of their offensive weapons such as Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski being out of the mix for the last couple of weeks due to back and ankle issues. Meanwhile, wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered an ankle injury in the 34-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans last Sunday.
Rookie running back Sony Michel was able to make his return to the field against the Titans, but this extra time to recover could help him get into better condition to play in the long run for the rest of the season. Brady could also benefit greatly from the bye week as he been notable struggling throwing the ball that has raised questions about Father Time finally beginning to catch up to him.
Nonetheless, this could be a highly beneficial Week 11 bye that could get them back on the right track toward making a run to returning to the Super Bowl.
