New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady has an outspoken father in Tom Sr., who let it slipped that his son “banned” him from speaking to the media while being interviewed by the Boston Globe on Monday.

The 42-year-old future Hall of Fame gunslinger Brady explained why he told his father to stay away from the spotlight.

“Well apparently he doesn’t listen because he’s still talking to the media,” Brady said on WEEI  during his weekly appearance on “The Greg Hill Show” on Monday. “My dad, he’s just an amazing man. He’s very forthcoming with information, so I keep telling him, ‘Dad, of course they are going to keep calling because you keep talking.’ When he speaks (everyone) thinks I am speaking, but I am not speaking. I said, ’It’s hard for me to tell you anything…’ What I have learned is I just can’t tell my dad anything. He has his own opinions and dads do what dads do.

“I love my dad. He’s an incredible man and he’s been my role model my whole life. But, he does like to talk.”

In this case, it seems that the Patriots' longtime signal-caller and six-time Super Bowl champion would prefer his father to stop inviting press due to the elder Tom's proclivity to open his mouth. The sports world has seen good and bad examples of relatives earning more time in the sun while speaking to members of the media about their star athletes or other stories in sports.

It doesn't sound like Brady is mad that his father blabbers on to the press, just that they keep coming back for more Tom Sr.
