The New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills by a score of 16-10 on Sunday afternoon, but the game was marred by a relatively scary scene in the fourth quarter, when Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones applied a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on Bills quarterback Josh Allen, knocking him out of the game and resulting in Allen being placed in concussion protocol.
Jones was penalized for the hit but was not ejected.
The incident occurred when Allen was finishing up a seven-yard scramble and was being wrapped up by safety Duron Harmon before Jones came in and landed the extra blow.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady spoke of the hit on Monday morning, saying that is the risk that running quarterbacks take:

Whether it's flagged or not, or whether it's a penalty, a lot of the rules have changed over the years, but from a quarterback's standpoint I feel like it's always best to try to be available to the team, and it's trying to take risk/reward and so forth. Nobody likes to see anybody get hurt out there. From my own experience, I try to do the best I can to avoid any big shots like that.”
Allen had a miserable game overall, completing just 13 of his 28 passes for 153 yards and three interceptions. He did score a rushing touchdown, but it was a thoroughly poor game for Allen and the Bills offense.
New England improved to 4-0 with the win and moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC East, dropping Buffalo to 3-1 in the process.
