New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones silenced any talk of a possible late-season collapse, as he guided the team to a statement 50-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17.

Jones simply had no difficulty at all in moving the ball downfield against a Jacksonville team that has seen plenty of shuffling upfront within its front seven. He led the Patriots offense to eight scoring drives over the course of the contest, which included a trio of passing touchdowns of his own.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick comes away from this win much pleased with the outing from the former Alabama Crimson Tide star.

In speaking during his post-game press conference, Belichick was asked for a reflection on Jones’ rookie campaign with a mere one game remaining in the Patriots’ regular season schedule. The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach noted that it has simply been a pleasure to work with him so far in his young career.

“He's just a really great person to coach,” Belichick said.

Belichick also credited offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who has been quite pivotal in Jones’ development over the past several months.

“Josh [McDaniels] has done a fantastic job with him, and Mac has really, I think, embraced the wisdom that Josh has transmitted to him, and he played extremely well today,” Belichick said.

The Patriots will finish regular season play with a road contest against the Miami Dolphins in Week 18. Jones and company would need both a win over the Dolphins coupled with a victory by the New York Jets against the Buffalo Bills in order to clinch the AFC East.
