Justin Rohrwasser was selected by the New England Patriots with the No. 159 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he immediately faced backlash concerning a “Three Percenters” tattoo. After the backlash, Rohrwasser intends to get the tattoo removed. Via ESPN's Mike Reiss, the rookie kicker said,

“As soon as I saw what it was linked to on Saturday, it was exactly that time I knew I had to get it totally taken off my body … I said cover it up [to reporters], but I want to get it removed from my body. It's shameful that I had it on there ignorantly.”

When Rohrwasser was drafted by the Patriots, it was discovered he had a tattoo of three Roman numerals surrounded by stars. For those that don't know, that symbol is used by the “Three Percenters” — an anti-government group that advocates for gun ownership.

Rohrwasser stated that he wasn't aware of what the “Three Percenters” stood for when he received the tattoo. When he got it he thought it simply represented the percentage of colonists that stood against Britain in the American Revolution. While that is why the group is named what it is, they are known to be an extremist militia.

Before joining the Patriots, Rohrwasser played his college football at Marshall. In his two seasons at Marshall, Rohrwasser connected on 79 of his 82 extra-point tries. Additionally, he made 33 of his 42 field-goal attempts.

Even though he was a successful kicker in college, it is still concerning that the Patriots never asked about his tattoo in the pre-draft process. Nevertheless, Rohrwasser is ridding himself of the tattoo, making sure that he corrects his past mistakes.
