The New Orleans Saints are preparing to do battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and Drew Brees was a surprising addition to the injury report. Despite some people concerned with his appearance on it, Brees poked fun at himself for being added to the injury report.

While speaking to the media about his injury, Brees proceeded to say it was ‘standard' and jokingly said his age is why he was added to the injury list.

“Hey, I’m 41 years old,” Brees chuckled. “I’ve got a lot of stuff going on. Just keep ticking.”

On Wednesday, Brees was added to the injury report with a shoulder ailment. The veteran quarterback downplayed his addition to the injury report, saying that he usually practices in a limited capacity on Wednesdays.

Just by watching Brees this season, it's evident that he no longer has the arm strength he once had. Not to say he had the strongest arm during his career, but he can no longer throw the ball down the field with ease.

Through the first eight weeks, Brees is averaging only 5.5 intended air yards per attempt, which is dead-last in the NFL among 33 qualified quarterbacks. Even though he's still his efficient self, completing a league-high 73.1 percent of his passes, Brees is showing his age with his failure to push the ball downfield.

Besides Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas were also on the injury report for the Saints. Kamara is in line to play on Sunday night while it is undetermined if Thomas will make his return to the offense for the first time since Week 1.
