New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees made headlines of late following what was a tremendous performance on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This has inevitably led to talks about Brees' longevity, particularly if he's even going to be back for next season.

The 41-year-old veteran was asked this very same question on a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, and according to Brees, he's just living in the now:

“I’m in the moment, I really am. That’s really the way it’s been the last couple of years,” Brees said, via Josh Alper of NBC Sports.

During the previous offseason, Brees took his time in deciding whether or not he was going to give it another go the following year. All the uncertainty surrounding the season brought about by the coronavirus pandemic further added doubt to the 13-time Pro-Bowler's availability for the 2020-21 campaign. Now with the benefit of hindsight, it is clear that Brees made the right decision.

It would not be surprising if the one-time Super Bowl champ takes a similar approach this coming offseason. He is still in contract with the Saints for next term, but given how things have been going in the entire NFL of late, it would not come as a complete shock if he opts to call it a career after this season.

Drew Brees completed 26-of-32 of his passes for 222 yards against Tom Brady and the Bucs on Sunday, as the Saints emerged with a very impressive 38-3 blowout win. Brees also coolly logged four touchdowns, as he completely outclassed the great Tom Brady in this one.
