Josina Anderson reported on Tuesday that the New Orleans Saints are open to trading Alvin Kamara amid his apparent holdout. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Alvin Kamara and his agent have refuted Anderson's report of him possibly being traded.

As the team's third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Kamara is in the last year of his rookie deal. Similar to other running backs in his draft class, Alvin Kamara would love to get a long-term deal done with the Saints.

On Monday, it was reported that Alvin Kamara was absent from training camp and it was believed to be contract related. However, per Kamara himself, he isn't holding out and he's been in the team's building every day. Given that, it appears that Anderson could have gotten a false tip from someone.

When Christian McCaffrey signed his massive extension this offseason, Saints GM, Mickey Loomis said that he ‘hadn't really thought about it yet'. Though, with the 2020 season inching closer, New Orleans seems to be negotiating with Alvin Kamara.

Despite the team's desire to extend him, the Saints will have to do some major refinements to their cap space to be able to get a deal done with Alvin Kamara. At this moment, New Orleans is already over the salary by $39 million in 2021, per OverTheCap. Furthermore, that number could balloon even higher if Drew Brees retires.

Since he's been a no-show at practice in recent days, rumors involving Alvin Kamara have been rampant. Nonetheless, the Pro Bowl rusher has seemingly put an end to the rumors that he could be traded.
