The New Orleans Saints conducted a workout with wide receiver Antonio Brown on Friday. However, they did so without signing the four-time All-Pro. Despite that, Brown's camp indicates that they will continue to push for a deal.
Brown's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, made it clear on Friday that he will try to get the polarizing receiver to New Orleans.
“Antonio had a very good visit today and we will continue our discussions with the Saints,” Rosenhaus said in a statement on Friday, via Pro Football Talk.
Following the workout, Saints coach Sean Payton said his team was doing “due diligence” on Brown. He also noted that it's a tricky situation, considering the situation the 31-year-old is in.
Article Continues BelowThe NFL is currently investigating Brown under its personal conduct policy filed by his former trainer, Britney Taylor. She alleged that Brown, in multiple instances, sexually assaulted her. He was also accused of sexual assault by an artist who worked for him in his house in 2017.
The NFL has not placed Brown on the commissioner's exempt list. However, they hinted at doing so if a club signed him. That is likely halting the Saints from signing the mercurial wideout. There is a real possibility that if they signed him, he could not play on the team; in turn, making the contract a waste of money, if it were to contain guarantees.
Antonio Brown led the NFL in touchdown receptions in 2018 (15). However, he remains without a team in large part due to his actions off the field, which earned him the boot from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots.
We will see if the Saints are the next stop for him, but don't assume anything when Antonio Brown is the topic of discussion. We have seen a lot of abrupt changes in his journey through 2019.
