Well, that was an anticlimactic end to the New Orleans Saints' season. Despite battling injuries throughout the entire season, the squad was still in playoff contention heading into Week 18. They needed to beat the Atlanta Falcons and hope for a Rams win over the 49ers.

The squad took care of business against the lowly Falcons, soundly beating them 30 – 20 despite Taysom Hill leaving the game due to an injury. However, things didn't go their way in Los Angeles, as the Saints playoffs' chances died alongside the Rams' 17-point lead en route to a 24- 27 loss.

After the game, star Saints defensive end Cam Jordan expressed his disappointment at the unfortunate end of the team's season. (via Saints on Twitter)

As Cam Jordan pointed out, this is the first time a Saints team hasn't made the postseason in a long while. The last time they weren't part of the playoffs was in 2016. Since then, they've been a consistent playoff presence, thanks in large part to Jordan's presence on defense.

Jordan and the Saints defense very nearly willed their team to the postseason this year. Injuries to Hill, Jameis Winston, and Alvin Kamara severely hampered their offense. However, Jordan's excellent pass rushing made New Orleans a feisty team to beat, even shutting out the defending champions Tampa Bay in a 9-0 slugfest at one point.

There's a lot of frustration from the Saints right now, but there's nothing really they can do. At the very least, the team can chalk this season up to an aberration due to the injuries they accumulated. Next season, prepare for this team to come roaring back into the playoffs.
