If you happen to run across New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees on the street, offer him a hug instead of a handshake because he likes those more.

After breaking Peyton Manning's record for touchdown passes, Brees ran over to head coach Sean Payton who was offering him a handshake. Instead of completing the handshake, Brees gave his coach a hug.

“First of all, I’m a hugger,” Brees said via Katherine Terrell of The Athletic. “I’m a hugger more than a handshaker but, I wouldn’t be here without Sean.”

Brees didn't shake hands with anyone after breaking the record. Teammates, coaches, equipment managers, he hugged them all.

Brees admitted that he actually played through his head how the celebration would happen if he broke the record because he didn't want to be overcome with too much emotion.

“I don’t want to be just so overcome with emotion that, there’s still a lot of football left to be played throughout the course of the game. It’s so unpredictable, right? You hope that it’s going to happen, you want to be prepared if it does,” he said. “Because … I want to make sure that everybody around me knows how thankful I am for them and how grateful I am, to my team, to everyone in the stadium, to our entire fanbase, to my family and friends and everyone that was here. All of those have been such an integral part of this. So you want to give that value. You want to be able to do that, and yet, it’s within the framework of a game. It might be a tight game, so you want to get your mind in focus and right back on the next play. You’re still in it. But I’d say the way it happened tonight obviously allowed us to enjoy it.”

Maybe even more important than the record, Brees has looked like the quarterback of old the last couple of weeks. The Saints are setting themselves up for a deep playoff run with Brees throwing a lot of touchdown passes being key.
