New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees still needs more time before making his decision regarding the 2020 season. Brees said after the Saints were knocked out of the playoffs that he would take some time, and speaking Wednesday at the Pro Bowl he revealed the layoff hasn't been long enough.
“I wanted to give it at least a few weeks, months, postseason, just to take a deep breath and decompress a little bit and get some time with the family and then just reassess,” Brees said via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk.
Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said that the Saints would welcome Brees back with open arms, as long as the future Hall of Famer wants to keep playing.

The Saints have been a bit spoiled with Brees' consistent play, but Loomis said it's not something the team has taken for granted.
“It’s easy to take him for granted. Yet, I don’t take him for granted,” Loomis said. “Look, if any of us are surprised at what he does, then we’re just not very smart.”
The Saints have no quarterback under contract for next season, so if Brees decided to hang it up or test free agency, the Saints could be in a bad spot. Teddy Bridgewater would probably be the backup plan, but there is no guarantee that he wouldn't leave in free agency either. The best news for the Saints would be Brees deciding to stay at least one more year.
