According to Amie Just and Ramon Antonio Vargas of NOLA.com and Shams Charania of “The Athletic” on Twitter, New Orleans Saints' and New Orleans Pelicans' owner Gayle Benson has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the reports, Benson is progressing well and has not missed any work calls. She is recovering at home and it sounds like everything is positive so far.

However, Benson is also 73, so there is some added worry when it comes to her.

What is crazy about this situation is that Benson is not the first high-profile name associated with the Saints to have the coronavirus. Saints head coach Sean Payton previously had the virus.

Hopefully, Benson can continue progressing well and get back to full health soon enough. For now though, she needs to continue isolating and recovering at home.

Benson's husband, Tom Benson, passed away in 2018 after a battle with the flu at age 90. After that, she took over the ownership of the football and basketball franchises.

It is unclear what the plan is moving forward. Obviously she has still been able to keep up with all her work that we know of. With that being said, it is likely that there is a plan in place in case her condition worsens and that changes.

Hopefully, we do not need to find out what that is though.

Benson tested positive a “couple of weeks ago”. Therefore, she could actually be close to returning back to her normal life. We do not know exactly what her symptoms were or currently are though.

With that being said, it is unwise and irresponsible to speculate much further. Let's just all hope for a full recovery for Mrs. Benson.
