Drew Brees recently decided to sign a deal with NBC Sports to become an analyst after he's done playing with the New Orleans Saints. Despite the rumors surrounding his new deal, Brees isn't expected to be replacing Cris Collinsworth on Sunday Night Football, per John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal.

Earlier this offseason, Brees was considering retirement after 19 seasons in the NFL. After mulling his options, Brees would announce that he's going to return to the Saints in 2020.

While it became apparent that retirement was an option, there were multiple networks that made a run at Brees. With the resounding success that Tony Romo has had at CBS, networks viewed Brees as someone who could take the same path as Romo.

Even when Brees re-signed with the Saints in free agency, networks didn't waver their interest in him. Then, after months of trying to get a commitment from him, the veteran signal-caller has chosen to join NBC Sports once he's done playing football.

Of course, with Brees' knowledge of the game and personality, NBC wants him to be a prominent member of the network. That led some people to believe that Brees could be replacing Collinsworth on Sunday nights.

While Collinsworth isn't being replaced, Al Michaels' contract with NBC expires after the 2022 season. As a result, that could lead to some changes being made that allow Brees to be part of NBC's Sunday Night Football fixture.

For the time being, Brees is focused on winning another Super Bowl with the Saints in 2020. On the other hand, it is unclear what his role with NBC will be once he decides to walk away from the NFL.
