Once Drew Brees decides to hang up the cleats, Taysom Hill will be the guy under center for the New Orleans Saints, according to Jay Glazer of The Athletic.
In Glazer's weekly mailbag, he was asked if all the buzz surrounding Hill is just a smokescreen. According to Glazer, Sean Payton loves Hill, but it just doesn't stop there. Everyone on the team loves what Hill brings to the table as a teammate.
Glazer also added the hope was he would be like Lamar Jackson, but that was before Jackson came into the league:

When he’s in the game, watch the other players on the sideline, watch their reaction. They all get up and stand on the sidelines to watch him. I think Sean was always hoping to unleash him on the league without anyone seeing him before but now we’ve seen it with Lamar Jackson. He’s a bigger Lamar Jackson. No, it’s not a smokescreen. He likes him that much, he’ll be the guy. He’s with the perfect coach for that.”
The big question for Hill and the Saints will be when will he get the chance. Many believed Hill would get the chance this season, but Brees decided to come back for at least one more season.
Will next year be the year he takes over the reins the Saints starting guy, or will Brees put off retirement for another season?
