Deandre Baker of the New York Giants turned himself in to the police on Saturday after having an arrest warrant issued for him. As a result, New York has informed Baker to stay away from team meetings after his recent arrest, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

Earlier this week, it was discovered that Baker and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar had arrest warrants out on them. Both Baker and Dunbar were wanted for four counts of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Just a couple of days after the arrest warrants were issued, both of them turned themselves in to the police. However, both Baker and Dunbar claim they are innocent.

Nevertheless, the Giants understand that having Baker attend team meetings could cause even more distractions for the team. Provided that, New York has asked the second-year cornerback to remain away from the team for right now.

Even though Baker claims he is innocent, the Giants need to gather all of the information they can. Once they receive all of the information they need, they can make a decision on whether or not to punish Baker.

While the offseason steadily progresses, Baker is expected to be a crucial piece for New York's defense next season. In his rookie campaign, the No. 30 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft tallied 61 tackles and eight pass breakups.

Of course, the Giants hope that Baker can return to the team and contribute to the team on defense. But until his legal issues are cleared up, his teammates shouldn't expect him to make an appearance to the team's virtual offseason meetings.
