Good news is starting to trickle in for the New York Giants. After going winless for the first five weeks of the season, they finally got in the win column last Sunday with a 23-10 road victory over the Denver Broncos.

And now, it is being reported by Jordan Raanan of ESPN that wide receiver Sterling Shepard is back practicing with the team after missing the Broncos' game with an ankle injury. Head coach Ben McAdoo was impressed with what he saw of the second-year wideout during Wednesday’s practice session.

“Practiced well,” Giants coach Ben McAdoo said. “He looked better than he did last week.”

The Giants’ receiving corps have been ravaged by high-profile injuries of late with Shepard, Odell Beckham Jr., and Brandon Marshall all missing games with various health issues. Beckham and Marshall are both out for the season after undergoing surgeries to repair their injured ankles. In addition, wide receiver Dwayne Harris is also done for the year with a foot injury.

Shepard is now expected to be the No. 1 guy downfield for Eli Manning to target beginning with Week 7’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Shepard will team up with rising rookie tight end Evan Engram, who had 82 receiving yards and a touchdown on five catches in the win over Denver.
