Robby Anderson is an important cog in the New York Jets offensive machine this season. The coaching staff feared that the 26-year-old may not be ready to start for their season opener, but recent developments point to the direction that Anderson will start Week 1 on the field.
The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta tweeted that the wideout will be able to line up against the Buffalo Bills to start the regular season.
Adam Gase says Robby Anderson will play vs Bills. Team being cautious with calf issue. Doesn’t seem like a real concern.

Anderson suffered a calf injury late in the team's preseason preparations. Gase was careful about his receiver's health with the opener just days away from kicking off.
“I don’t know if it’s a concern,” Gase said. “Anytime you have a soft tissue, it’s an unknown. That’s why its day-to-day. We’ll just keep, he’ll keep working on that and hopefully we get him back for the practices and get him a full week go when he feels good and we’re ready to roll.”
News quickly turned for the better as news about his condition surfaced. There are reports that he and cornerback Trumaine Johnson are showing encouraging signs with their respective recoveries.
There are plenty of reasons why the Jets coaching staff are excited with the prospect of having Anderson play with second-year quarterback Sam Darnold. The third overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft completed 2,865 passing yards and had a 58% pass completion rate. The Jets can only expect the former USC QB to improve this season, and this means more receptions for Anderson.
The Jets finished at the bottom of the AFC East. However, an improvement in their offensive game should see them leapfrog the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills and try to make a run for a Wild Card spot.
