The New York Jets (3-6) are in must-win mode following their 2-6 start to the season, but defeating the Houston Texans might require a full compliment of pass-catchers. Wide receiver Davante Adams was evaluated for a concussion in the locker room during the team's 21-13 Thursday Night Football win over the Houston Texans but surprisingly returned to the field, per the New York Post's Brian Costello.

Adams hit his head and neck hard on the turf after being tackled on a pivotal 17-yard reception near the end of the third quarter. The fourth-and-1 play ultimately resulted in a mind-boggling one-handed Garrett Wilson touchdown catch to give New York the lead, but there was initial concern that it came at a great cost.

Adams cleared concussion protocol and trotted out of the locker room in the fourth quarter, ready to help the Jets put the Texans away. And he did just that, scoring on a beautiful 37-yard touchdown reception with just under three minutes left in the game.

Aaron Rodgers found his groove in the second half and finally afflicted some damage with his favorite receiver. Since Allen Lazard is now on the injured reserve, it is crucial that the rest of New York's WR room stays healthy.

Jets flip the switch after rough start

What started out as a terrifying Halloween night for Jets fans, courtesy of an agonizing mistake by rookie Malachi Corley (dropped the ball before breaking the plane on a should-be TD), could have gotten even worse if the team's big trade acquisition went down with a concussion. Instead, New York's holiday ends with a sliver of optimism, which is more than it had just four days ago.

Davante Adams finishes with seven receptions for 91 yards and the aforementioned score, while the defense absolutely terrorized CJ Stroud (sacked eight times, 11-of-30 passing for 191 yards). The Jets were favorites for this TNF game due to the Texans' injury woes, but the victory could still mark a change for the squad.

While a Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots makes it virtually impossible for fans to prognosticate wins, the schedule is manageable for New York going forward. Toppling the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks will be even more doable if Rodgers and Adams maintain their renewed rapport.
