The New York Jets were hoping they got a special player in first-round pick Mekhi Becton and so far, he's been living up to the hype. With the Jets preparing for the regular season, Becton continues to flash his ‘scary' potential in training camp.

While speaking about the rookie offensive tackle, Jordan Jenkins raved about Becton's ability to dominate once he hones in on his craft.

“He’s got the tools to handle everything,” Jenkins said. “Once he mentally knows he can dominate everyone that lines up against him, it’s going to be a scary sight for people going against him.”

Back in April, New York selected Becton with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Louisville. The 6-foot-7, nearly 270-pound tackle is projected to be the team's starting left tackle in Week 1. Even though he's been impressive in camp up to this point, Adam Gase believes Becton still has work to do.

“I think early he kind of came out the blocks great,” coach Adam Gase said. “Once we got into some of those exotic fronts, then it started getting cloudy for him.

When watching Becton play in college, he was a man amongst boys, ridding of anyone in his path. However, the NFL is a completely different level of competition for Becton to get acclimated to.

For the Jets to improve in 2020, they'll need Mekhi Becton and the offensive line to keep Sam Darnold upright. Jenkins, who's faced Becton often in camp thus far, believes that once the first-year tackle figures it out mentally, he'll be a premier player at his position.
