Although the New York Jets were active in the last stretch of the NFL's trade deadline this past Tuesday, only one trade materialized—sending former first-round pick in defensive tackle defensive tackle Leonard Williams to fellow MetLife Stadium resident the New York Giants.

Another defensive lineman, their first-round pick from this year in Alabama product Quinnen Williams was also reportedly asked by another team for a trade, but the Jets refused even after continuously greater offers for the rookie.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Gang Green repeatedly rejected offers for the 21-year-old Williams:

At least one team kept coming at the Jets, refusing to take no for an answer and offering a blockbuster package of picks that it thought New York could not turn down, according to sources.

But no matter how many times that team and others called, New York refused to budge on Williams.

The Jets also were called by the Pittsburgh Steelers about running back Le'Veon Bell—who spent his first five years in the Steel City, earning three Pro-Bowl trips and two All-Pro selections. The Steelers need help in the backfield due to injuries to Bell's replacement James Conner and Benny Snell Jr.

At 1-6, the Jets appeared to be tearing down the foundations of the team, including nearly dealing Pro-Bowl safety Jamal Adams to the Dallas Cowboys.

Alas, the Jets decided that shedding one Williams defensive lineman was enough, with the rookie Quinnen Williams remaining on the roster for general manager Joe Douglas to work with amid near internal combustion.
