The Pittsburgh Steelers are exploring wide receiver options ahead of the November 4 trade deadline to add speed and versatility to complement DK Metcalf. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Steelers have been quietly active in gauging the market for an additional weapon to strengthen Aaron Rodgers’ passing attack.

“The Steelers are, once again, in the market for a receiver, sources say,” Rapoport reported. “Their offense has thrived with multiple tight ends, but adding a speed threat to pair with DK Metcalf would help Aaron Rodgers and the offense.”

Pittsburgh’s offense has remained productive, but outside of Metcalf, reliable receiving options are scarce. Calvin Austin III has missed multiple games with a shoulder injury, and the Steelers have struggled to stretch the field consistently. Metcalf, meanwhile, has been the focal point, posting 406 yards and four touchdowns on 22 receptions this season, averaging an impressive 18.5 yards per catch.

According to ESPN, the Steelers are taking a patient, strategic approach to the wide receiver market. “The Steelers are patiently surveying the wide receiver trade market,” Jeremy Fowler wrote. “Competitors for receiver help might prove scarce, but Pittsburgh can afford to wait this out and see who gets desperate.” Fowler added that while the team doesn’t want to disrupt its current chemistry, Las Vegas Raiders wideout Jakobi Meyers stands out as an “ideal trade fit.”

Meyers’ adaptability makes him appealing — he can serve as a dependable No. 2 or handle a heavier workload if needed. Since joining the Raiders in 2023, he’s become a steady producer, tallying 1,027 yards last season and 329 so far in 2025.

However, the Raiders’ mixed signals about whether they would actually move him complicate the market. “They aren’t the only ones,” Fowler added, noting that several teams are hesitant to sell before the deadline.

Beyond Meyers, Pittsburgh has also been loosely connected to names like Allen Lazard, A.J. Brown, and Rashid Shaheed, though financial and contractual hurdles make any deal difficult. Still, with the Steelers sitting at 4-2 and leading the AFC North, the front office views the addition of a reliable wideout as the final piece to fully unlock Rodgers’ offense.

The Steelers’ combination of Rodgers and DK Metcalf has already transformed them into legitimate AFC contenders. Their chemistry has given Pittsburgh a renewed offensive identity, one built around precision, timing, and explosiveness. Adding another versatile receiver could take that dynamic to an even higher level as the team eyes a deep playoff push.
