The 27-year-old is coming off of a career year and will be highly sought after. Williams had 76 receptions for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns. His jump ball ability makes him a deep threat down the field. Williams consistently wins 50/50 balls, as cornerbacks struggle to match up with him physically.
He can fit with almost any roster and can be the missing piece to the offense. That being said, here are the three best landing spots for Mike Williams in the 2022 NFL free agency, ranked.
Mike Williams Free Agency Landing Spots
3. Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts have a great core but lack weapons offensively. Indianapolis narrowly missed the postseason, losing their final game to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Although they missed the playoffs, running back, Jonathan Taylor was the bright spot for them, having a breakout campaign and emerging as a top running back in the league.
Taylor rushed for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns, which led all running backs. Adding an elite wide receiver to the offense would allow the Colts to have a more potent passing game. Second-year wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. had an outstanding campaign but needs another receiver next to him.
Pittman Jr. had 88 receptions for 1,082 yards and six touchdowns.
Mike Williams would be a good fit, as he would free up Pittman Jr. more and force teams to respect their passing attack.
2. Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders surprisingly made it to the playoffs despite all of the controversies they faced. Las Vegas has already made changes in the offseason, including former New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
Article Continues BelowLas Vegas has a solid core and could make a deep playoff run with a few moves. The Raiders are expected to be interested in wide receiver Davante Adams, but he is unlikely to leave the Green Bay Packers. If Adams stays, MikeWilliams will further become one of the premier free agents at wide receiver.
While he wouldn't have the same impact as Adams, Williams would fit well with the Raiders. Derek Carr is a great quarterback and has an underrated wide receiver in Hunter Renfrow.
Renfrow finished the season with 103 receptions for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns. Although he is a solid receiver, his game could be taken to the next level with another great target alongside him.
1. Los Angeles Chargers
Re-signing with the Los Angeles Chargers is the best option for Mike Williams. While he will have other offers, his chemistry with Justin Herbert is established. Herbert and Williams connected on multiple deep balls last season, which made the Chargers a prolific offense.
Herbert has become one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and it would be difficult for MikeWilliams to find a better place to play. Los Angeles also has Keenan Allen at wide receiver, who takes the attention of the defense. This frees up Herbert to take shots downfield, which benefits Williams immensely.
Herbert is entering his third season and has already proved his worth. Last season, Herbert threw for 5,014 yards along with 38 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
While Williams is talented, he has been inconsistent throughout his career. Going to a new team could take time to establish chemistry and make it challenging to play at his full potential.
Mike Williams will be an intriguing free agent for many teams, but his best destination is to re-sign with the Chargers.
