Florida State is a famous football program that just fired its head coach, so a lot of quality coaches were immediately linked with the job. Few expected a former player like Deion Sanders to be considered for the position.
However, that's the reality we're now living in as the former-player-turned-pundit is one of the leading candidates to take over the Seminoles program and lead them back to relevance.

It's not strange for former players to take up the headsets and coach from the sidelines. However, it's quite strange for the Seminoles to even consider having the Hall of Fame cornerback take on the reins of head coach for an established program.
Article Continues BelowWillie Taggart was sacked after a disastrous second season in charge of Florida State. While the team is still bowl-eligible, the coaching staff will have to prepare and try to win without their head coach leading them.
Sanders definitely has the pedigree to become an influential coach for the Seminoles. He was an eight-time Pro Bowler and a six-time All-Pro First Team selection. He knows the game well due to his experience of providing analysis for the NFL Network and his time playing at a superstar level.
However, coaches will be the first to tell you that knowledge of the game doesn't immediately translate into fantastic coaching. Head coaches have to take care of student-athletes as people as well as football players. While Deion was cut as a popular figure in the locker room during his playing days, it's still unknown how it will help him coach the Seminoles to a winning program.
It will be intriguing if Florida State does pick Sanders as their head coach and how he performs in that role.
