The deal, which is worth a maximum of $3.5 million, will allow Rowe to possibly get another, bigger deal next year after the cornerback was forced to miss most of his 2018 season with a groin injury.
After suffering the injury in October of last year, Rowe was placed on injured reserve by the Patriots, ending his season and severely limiting the value he would have had this offseason had he stayed healthy. After signing a four-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, the cornerback has unfortunately been unable to stay on the field for a majority of games.
Originally drafted by the Eagles in the second round (47th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Utah, Rowe has only played in four games last season, and has played in under 10 games in each of his three seasons with New England. Despite the numbers, Rowe has posted fairly good numbers for a cornerback.
Throughout his career, Rowe has tallied 80 tackles, one tackle for a loss, and two interceptions, so if healthy, he can produce, and the Dolphins will be hoping that he can help the team as it looks to rebuild.
Miami is coming off of a 2018 season that saw minor improvement on their 2017 campaign, but was another disappointment for most involved. Their 7-9 record was good for second in the AFC East, but they missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year and will now look to rebuild their team after likely parting ways with quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
