Although the NFL may be working toward a solution to play out the 2020 season amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, there are still some glaring issues that they must work out with the NFL Player's Association before training camp begins at the end of the month.

The NFL has already made some significant changes this time around by cutting the preseason in half while teams reduce fan capacity significantly at their stadiums. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, both sides are still split on having a preseason and players are hoping the league will have established viable health guidelines to follow:

-Almost everything is done and agreed to except for number of preseason games and testing protocols.

— No fans will be at training camp, but teams can have up to two fan events at stadiums this preseason with strict protocols if allowed

Players already had mixed feelings about taking part in meaningless exhibition games. The risks involved with playing during an ongoing pandemic has only served to amplify these concerns.

Meanwhile, the NFL is trying to put an emphasis on player safety for the upcoming season. However, it seems they are still uneasy about the testing protocols that are currently in place.

These are obviously two major issues that could determine whether or not the season experiences any further setbacks leading up to training campo at the end of the month. Fortunately, both sides have negotiated a deal that would allow players to opt out for the 2020 season and toll their contracts once they come back next year.
