One way a full NFL season could happen is by repeated testing of players to make sure they haven't contacted the Coronavirus. That is something the NFL has looked into, but league executive Troy Vincent wants to make one thing clear: they will only do that if there is enough testing so they don't have to take away from the general public.
“We won’t,” Vincent said via Rob Maddi of the Associated Press. “General public safety is first and foremost.”
Vincent said the plan is still to have a full season, but they are learning new things every day. The most important thing to the NFL is to keep everyone safe, something they hope they can accomplish while still having a season.
Article Continues Below“The schedule will come out as normal, but we’re doing reasonable and responsible planning as we always do, inside of game operations,” league executive Troy Vincent told The Associated Press on Thursday. “Based off of what we are learning from the medical community and how people are handling this domestically and abroad, we are being deliberate with reasonable and responsible planning about what can work in our environment and what we can incorporate to protect the health and safety of all involved.”
The NFL regular season is set to start on Thursday, September 10t. But there are still a lot of question marks about what will happen not just in the NFL, but in the world between now and then. Hopefully soon the world can return to some sort of normal, and what would be more normal than watching football on Sunday's?
