Washington Redskins veteran running back Adrian Peterson is currently dealing with sprained ankle, which was revealed by head coach Jay Gruden on Monday.

Gruden also announces that Adrian Peterson has a sprained ankle. He should also be ready for New Orleans.

That’s not an ideal news to hear for Washington to start a week, but at least Peterson has plenty of days to rest up and heal from the injury. The Redskins have a bye this week with their next game set to take place 14 days away when they take on the New Orleans Saints on the road on Oct. 8 – a Monday Night Football game, too.

At age 33, Peterson is way behind his prime, but he’s still better than most running backs so far this season. In the Redskins’ Week 31-17 win over the Green Bay Packers at home last Sunday, Peterson paced his team with 120 rushing yards and a pair of rushing scores on 19 carries.

With Peterson showing there’s plenty of gas left in his tank, the Redskins have managed to end Week 3 fourth in the NFL with an average of 137.7 rushing yards per game.

Adrian Peterson signed a one-year deal worth $1.015 million with the Redskins back in August and has become an integral part of Washington’ offense that is 10th in the league with 383.3 total yards per contest.
