The Washington Redskins may be inclined to promote Dwayne Haskins to the first-team offense in Week 9. With the opportunity possibly being there, Haskins expressed his excitement at having a chance to start.

“I get hyped every day I get to put a helmet on,” Haskins said. “Even more excited to put a first start on film, even more excited about it.”

Last week, Case Keenum made an early exit in Washington's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Keenum has been in the concussion protocol since and his status for Sunday's contest versus the Buffalo Bills is in jeopardy.

With Keenum being sidelined, Haskins has been taking the majority of the snaps with the starters in practice. Therefore, the rookie signal-caller could make his first career start in the NFL.

Of course, Haskins has seen the field twice this season. But both times came when either the team was losing by double-digits or due to an injury. Nevertheless, the Ohio State product has struggled in his limited opportunities that he's had.

In the two times that he's played, Haskins has completed only 54.5 percent of his throws for 140 yards and four interceptions. Without a doubt, Haskins would love to make people forget about those numbers by performing well in his first start.

However, interim head coach Bill Callahan has been adamant that Haskins isn't ready to be given the keys to the offense. At the same time, the fans in Washington have been clamoring for their rookie quarterback to start and at 1-7, the Redskins don't have anything to lose by playing him.
