Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell has been given permission to speak with other teams regarding offensive coordinator opportunities, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
O'Connell landed his first NFL coaching job back in 2015, when he took over as quarterbacks coach of the Cleveland Browns, holding that position for one year before moving on to the San Francisco 49ers as an offensive assistant.
The 34-year-old then arrived in Washington in 2017, taking the quarterbacks coach job. He was elevated to the role of offensive coordinator going into 2019.
O'Connell also had a brief NFL playing career, as the San Diego State product was selected by the New England Patriots in the third round (94th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.
He played in two games for the Patriots in 2008, throwing six passes.
O'Connell then bounced around between the Detroit Lions, New York Jets (twice), Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers through 2012 before his NFL career came to a close.
