Washington Redskins coach Ron Rivera has only been in charge a couple of months. Despite that, wide receiver Terry McLaurin has already made a big impact on him.

McLaurin was selected in the third round of the 2019 draft. In limited time with the coaches, he's quickly become a standout out for the Redskins. McLaurin caught 58 passes for 919 yards and seven touchdowns back in college. Rivera said he has run into McLaurin a few times before the lockdown and it was a pleasure to talk to him.

He has also watched how the new Redskins talent has interacted with other coaches in an impressive matter.

“I've got to say, I like the wide receivers,” Rivera said via Garrett Stepien of 247 Sports. “Terry McLaurin's been a treat. He's been a treat to get to know. I ran into him several times before the lockdown when he would come around and I'd have a conversation with him. And then listening in on his conversations with (wide receivers) coach (Jim) Hostler has been really, really good. I mean, he's a young man I think that had a solid year last year as a rookie, a third-round pick — he's a guy that could be on the verge (of stardom), he really is. He reminds me so much of a D.J. Moore that we had in Carolina. Just an outstanding young man.”

McLaurin might end up being one of the steals of last year's draft, especially if he can continue the strong play going forward. The Redskins hope the offense can continue to take steps forward, and if they are going to have that happen, McLaurin is going to need to play a key role.

Dwayne Haskins and McLaurin hope to be the 1-2 combo that leads the Redskins success for many years to come.
