Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams is desperately trying to get out of Washington.

Williams and his agent, Vincent Taylor, were allowed to pursue a trade this offseason, and Taylor issued a statement on Saturday reiterating said desire.

Taylor also suggested he and Trent had been subjected to “false reporting” which stated the pairing objected to certain trades the team had drawn up.

Reports circulated in the wee hours on Saturday that Williams had declined a potential trade to the Minnesota Vikings (via Pro Football Talk):

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports Williams nixed a trade to Minnesota.

“At some point over the course of today, Williams made it known he would rather not go to the Minnesota Vikings,” Rapoport said. “Essentially, that ended the trade right there.”

Another trade might have involved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers reportedly had discussions with the Redskins regarding Williams, proposing a deal that would have sent Bucs tight end O.J. Howard to Washington.

Such a deal would have made sense for both sides. The Bucs would have acquired added protection for Williams, while the Redskins would get their tight end for the future after cutting Jordan Reed. But, for whatever reason, the deal fell through.

In any case, Taylor made it clear he and his client have not “objected” to certain trades, though he did say he hoped the Redskins would make a deal in Williams' best interest, as well as their own.

The San Francisco 49ers might be another team to watch in Williams' market, particularly if veteran left tackle Joe Staley decides to hang up the cleats.
