All eyes are on the quarterback battle happening for the Washington Redskins but there's an elephant in the room. Trent Williams hasn't reported to camp and doesn't plan on showing up anytime soon.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Washington has placed Trent Williams on the did not report list and they signed Corey Robinson. Williams has been away from the team this offseason due to multiple issues.
The Redskins Pro-Bowl left tackle has skipped out on all the offseason programs due to two reasons. First, Williams wants a new contract as he enters his second-to-last year on his current deal.
Williams is owed $10.85 million in 2019 and $12.5 million in 2020. As for 2019, Williams is set to be the sixth highest-paid left tackle in the NFL this season.
Article Continues BelowAccording to reports, Williams is also unhappy about how a situation involving a growth on his head was handled by the medical staff. During the time it was believed that Williams wanted to be traded by the Redskins.
Nonetheless, Williams still hasn't shown up to training camp and it's unknown if he plans on showing up at all. Currently, Ereck Flowers is set to start at left tackle for Washington.
Although, the Redskins just brought in and signed Corey Robinson to help fill the void left by Williams. Before arriving in Washington, Robinson spent his first three seasons with the Detroit Lions before playing for the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018.
In his career, Robinson has only started in nine games and his last start came in Week 16 of the 2018 season. With the absence of Williams, the Redskins are scrambling to figure out a solution at left tackle.
