The 2019 NFL Draft was filled with plenty of trades. One trade came on Day 3, when the Indianapolis Colts traded Hassan Ridgeway to the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the Colts traded defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway to the Eagles for the 246th overall pick. The Colts used that pick to select offensive tackle Jackson Burton out of Utah.

Ridgeway was picked by Indianapolis in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The defensive tackle played all three seasons with the Colts but started only six games with the franchise.

In his three seasons, Ridgeway had 41 combined tackles, 4.5 sacks, and six tackles for loss. Heading into 2019, Ridgeway was expected to be the third defensive tackle on the depth chart for the Colts behind Denico Autry and Margus Hunt.

Therefore, he was expendable and could be replaced by someone the team signs, or by Grover Stewart, as their third guy. The Eagles wanted to add depth at defensive tackle and likely saw Ridgeway as someone who was better than anyone left in the draft.

Of course, Ridgeway will have a tough time getting on the field for the Eagles — they have Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, and Timmy Jernigan. Undoubtedly, Ridgeway will be battling for a roster spot in training camp.

The Eagles will now have six defensive tackles on their roster with the addition of Ridgeway. It's unlikely they will keep that many during the season, so there's going to be a chance that Ridgeway doesn't make the cut.
