Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz missed the last five games of the team's season with a stress fracture in his back, but he's expected to be healthy enough to be a full participant in Philadelphia's offseason program in April if the team wants him to, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Eagles managed to make the playoffs without their star quarterback, due in large part to Wentz's backup, Nick Foles. The reigning Super Bowl champs lost to the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional Round, after beating the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round.

Wentz also missed the end of the Eagles' season last year, tearing his ACL in their week 14 game against the Los Angles Rams. He's been participating in a strengthening program.

Schefter reported that one source said there are theories that his back injury could be tied to his knee injury from the 2017 season, but there is no proof.

“Assuming rehab and everything goes well, hopefully, come April, once we get rolling again, I can be back out there where that wasn't necessarily the case last year,” Wentz said last week.

Foles may have lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl last year, and the playoffs this year, but the Eagles confirmed their commitment to the Wentz when coach Doug Pederson and executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman reiterated that Wentz would be their starter going forward.

This season, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions in eleven games. The Eagles went 5-6 during his starts.
